Over the course of the past week I finished another arc of One Piece that took place in a maximum security underwater prison called Impel Down. After having learned that his brother Ace had been captured and sent to Impel Down, Luffy sought to free Ace before he is executed. Luffy ends up meeting quite a few people from his past in the prison, almost all of which are notorious pirates from past arcs.
Despite being bad guys in the past, all of the people that he encounters are willing to help him in his quest because it would also mean escaping Impel Down which is like a hell to the prisoners in it because of the various forms of torture that occurs. Among the people that Luffy frees is the first villain he fought, Buggy the Clown who is a hilarious pirate that ate the chop-chop fruit and can detach his body parts and float around as a dismembered body as long as his feet are touching the ground. The other people that are rescued are various members of the infamous crime syndicate Barouqe Works that Luffy had defeated a while ago. The members that are freed are Mr.3, Mr. 2 Bon-Clay, Mr. 1, and Mr.0 Crocodile (who is a former warlord of the sea that was dethroned by Luffy and crew).
The group along with the help from some other prisoners they meet along the way are able to make it to the bottom of Impel down where Ace was supposed to be held, however they are too late and then attempt to make their escape to head to the Navy Headquarters in hopes of stopping the execution that is meant to take place in a matter of hours.
I loved the impel down arc. I'm a huge fan of the enemies becoming friends theme that always occurs in manga and anime. But wait until you get to navy hq. Most intense scenes I have seen in a while.
ReplyDeleteHaha I started it today and yeah... its crazy haha. White Beard is a bad as* guy and all the stuff going down right now is crazy. I had no idea that Luffy and Ace werent really related, I assumed they were both the son of Dragon... but I guess not. This show keeps getting better and better in my opinion.
